    A luxurious dessert that combines the crispy, nutty layers of baklava with the creamy richness of cheesecake, finished with fragrant honey syrup and pistachios. Perfect for special occasions.


    Ingredients

    For the Baklava Base

    • 8–10 sheets phyllo dough

    • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

    • 1 cup pistachios, finely chopped

    • ¼ cup walnuts or almonds, finely chopped

    • 2 tablespoons sugar

    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon


    For the Cheesecake Filling

    • 500 g cream cheese, softened

    • ¾ cup sugar

    • 3 large eggs

    • 1 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

    • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)


    For the Honey Syrup

    • ½ cup honey

    • ¼ cup sugar

    • ¼ cup water

    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

    • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water or rose water (optional)


    For Topping

    • ¼ cup crushed pistachios

    • Extra honey for drizzling


    Instructions

    1. Prepare the Baklava Base

    1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

    2. Brush a 9-inch springform pan with butter.

    3. Place one sheet of phyllo in the pan and brush with melted butter.

    4. Repeat layering 6–8 sheets, brushing each with butter.

    5. Mix pistachios, walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon.

    6. Sprinkle half of the nut mixture over the phyllo layers.


    2. Make the Cheesecake Filling

    1. In a bowl beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.

    2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing gently.

    3. Mix in yogurt (or sour cream), vanilla, cornstarch, and lemon zest.

    4. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the nut layer in the pan.


    3. Bake the Cheesecake

    1. Bake for 45–55 minutes until the center is slightly set.

    2. Turn off oven, leave door slightly open, and let cheesecake cool inside 30 minutes to prevent cracking.

    3. Chill in the refrigerator at least 4 hours or overnight.


    4. Make the Honey Syrup

    1. In a small saucepan combine honey, sugar, and water.

    2. Simmer 4–5 minutes until slightly thick.

    3. Add lemon juice and orange blossom or rose water if using.

    4. Let cool slightly.


    5. Assemble the Dessert

    1. Remove cheesecake from the pan.

    2. Drizzle warm honey syrup over the top.

    3. Sprinkle with crushed pistachios.

    4. Add an extra drizzle of honey if desired.


    Serving Tips

    • Serve slightly chilled for the best texture.

    • Pair with Turkish coffee or mint tea.

    • For extra baklava flavor, add a little cardamom or cinnamon to the cheesecake filling.
