Ingredients

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Juice of ½ lime

For the Tostadas

  • 4 tostada shells (or baked crispy corn tortillas)

For the Guacamole

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 2 tbsp finely diced red onion
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Pico de Gallo

  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ cup white onion, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Salt to taste

  • Sour cream or Mexican crema
  • Crumbled cotija cheese
  • Pickled jalapeños
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

1. Season the Steak

  • Rub the steak with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lime juice.
  • Let marinate for 15–30 minutes.

2. Cook the Steak

  • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the steak for 4–5 minutes per side (medium-rare) or until desired doneness.
  • Rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

3. Make the Guacamole

  • Mash the avocados in a bowl.

4. Prepare the Pico de Gallo

  • Combine tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, and salt in a bowl.

5. Assemble the Tostadas

  • Place the crispy tostada shells on serving plates.

  • Top with sliced steak.
  • Spoon the pico de gallo over the steak.
