Ingredients (Makes 2 Sandwiches)
- 4 slices sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
- 8 slices bacon
- 4 large lettuce leaves (Romaine, iceberg, or butter lettuce)
- 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter (optional, for toasting)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8–10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- Toast the bread until golden. Butter the toast if desired.
- Spread mayonnaise (and Dijon mustard, if using) evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer lettuce on two slices of bread.
- Add the tomato slices and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Top with the crispy bacon.
- Cover with the remaining slices of toasted bread, mayonnaise side down.
- Slice in half and serve immediately with chips, fries, soup, or a fresh salad.
