Carnivore mozzarella sticks recipe
Ingredients:
12 oz (340g) full-fat mozzarella cheese (block style)
1 egg
1/4 cup ground pork rinds (this replaces breadcrumbs)
1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, if you allow seasonings on your carnivore diet)
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper (optional, if you’re okay with spices)
Instructions:
Prep the mozzarella: Slice the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch wide.
Coat the sticks:
In a bowl, beat the egg.
In another bowl, mix the ground pork rinds with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Dip and coat:
Dip each mozzarella stick into the egg, making sure it’s well coated.
Then roll it in the ground pork rind mixture until evenly coated. You can double coat them for extra crispness if you prefer.
Freeze:
Lay the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Freeze them for at least 1 hour, so they don’t melt too quickly when cooking.
Fry or bake:
To fry: Heat a skillet with a little animal fat (like beef tallow or lard) over medium heat. Fry the mozzarella sticks for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
To bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes until crispy and golden.
Serve: Enjoy immediately while hot and melty!
These are perfect for a carnivore diet because they use only animal-based ingredients. You can also dip them in homemade ranch (if you eat dairy) or just eat them on their own!
