Bacon Puff Pastry Twists
Crispy, Buttery, Salty & Perfect for Parties
🛒 Ingredients (Makes 10–14 twists)
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
6–8 slices bacon (regular cut works best)
1 large egg
1 tbsp water
¼ tsp black pepper
Optional: 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: ½ tsp garlic powder or smoked paprika
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Prep the Pastry
Lightly flour your surface and unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
Roll slightly to smooth seams if needed.
3️⃣ Add Bacon
Lay bacon slices evenly across the pastry sheet, slightly overlapping if needed.
If using Parmesan or seasonings, sprinkle them over the bacon now.
4️⃣ Cut Strips
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice into ½–¾ inch strips.
5️⃣ Twist
Pick up each strip and twist several times.
Place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing slightly apart.
6️⃣ Egg Wash
Whisk egg with 1 tbsp water.
Brush each twist lightly with egg wash for golden color.
7️⃣ Bake
Bake for 18–25 minutes, until puffed, golden, and bacon is crisp.
Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
🔥 Tips for Extra Crispiness
Use a wire rack on top of the baking sheet to allow airflow.
If bacon releases excess grease, blot lightly with paper towel after baking.
For very thick bacon, partially cook it 3–4 minutes first.
❓ Q & A
Q: Can I use turkey bacon?
Yes, but it won’t get as crisp. Reduce baking time slightly and watch closely.
Q: Do I need to cook the bacon first?
Not usually. Thin or regular bacon cooks perfectly in the oven.
Thick-cut bacon benefits from partial pre-cooking.
Q: Can I make them ahead?
Yes!
Assemble and refrigerate (covered) up to 24 hours before baking.
Or freeze unbaked twists and bake from frozen (add 3–5 minutes).
Q: Can I add cheese inside?
Absolutely. Sprinkle shredded cheddar or Parmesan before cutting and twisting.
Q: How do I store leftovers?
Refrigerate up to 3 days. Reheat in oven or air fryer at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
