  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko works best)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Onion Rings

  1. Peel onions and slice into ½-inch thick rings.

  2. Separate the rings and pair similar-sized rings together (one larger, one smaller).

  3. Place mozzarella strips between the two rings to form a cheese-stuffed ring.

  4. Press gently to seal.
👉 Freeze rings for 30 minutes (important to prevent cheese leaks).

2️⃣ Breading Station

  1. Bowl 1: Flour mixed with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

  2. Bowl 2: Eggs whisked with milk.

  3. Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs.

3️⃣ Coat the Rings

  1. Dredge each ring in flour.

  2. Dip in egg mixture.

  3. Coat well with breadcrumbs.

  4. For extra crunch, repeat egg + breadcrumbs once more.

  5. Return to freezer for 10–15 minutes.

4️⃣ Fry

  1. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
