🥘 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Onion Rings:

  • 2 large white or yellow onions

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup cold milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)

  • 1 large egg

For Coating:

  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)


🔪 Step 1: Prepare the Onions

  1. Peel onions and slice into ½-inch thick rings.

  2. Separate rings carefully.

  3. Set aside on a paper towel.


🥣 Step 2: Set Up Breading Station

Prepare 3 bowls:

1️⃣ Flour Bowl
Mix flour + salt + pepper + paprika + garlic powder + onion powder.

2️⃣ Wet Bowl
Whisk milk and egg together.

3️⃣ Breadcrumb Bowl
Add breadcrumbs (you can mix a pinch of salt here too).

For each onion ring:

  1. Dip in flour (shake off excess).

  2. Dip in egg/milk mixture.

  3. Coat well in breadcrumbs.

  4. Press breadcrumbs gently to stick.

👉 For extra crispy rings:
Repeat egg + breadcrumb step one more time (double coating).


🔥 Step 4: Fry

  1. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Fry in small batches (don’t overcrowd).

  3. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  4. Remove and place on paper towel to drain.


🌬 Air Fryer Option (Healthier)

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Spray onion rings lightly with oil.

  3. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.

  4. Spray again lightly for extra crispiness.


🔥 Oven Option

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Place rings on lined baking tray.

  3. Spray with oil.

  4. Bake 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway.
