This dish combines spiced Mediterranean ground beef, warm crispy flatbread, and a creamy sweet-spicy feta sauce. It’s great for lunch, dinner, or sharing as a platter.
Ingredients (Serves 3–4)
For the Ground Beef
500 g ground beef
2 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ small onion, finely chopped
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp ground coriander
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
For the Hot Honey Feta Cream
120 g feta cheese
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 tbsp olive oil
1–2 tbsp honey
½ tsp chili flakes
1 tsp lemon juice
1 small garlic clove, grated
For the Flatbread Base
3–4 flatbreads or pita
1 tbsp olive oil
Toppings (Optional but Recommended)
Cherry tomatoes, halved
Cucumber, diced
Red onion, thinly sliced
Fresh parsley or mint
Extra feta crumbles
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cook the Mediterranean Beef
Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Add the spices
Mix in:
Paprika
Cumin
Coriander
Oregano
Salt and pepper
Chili flakes
Stir well so the beef absorbs the spices.
Add tomato paste and cook 1–2 minutes more.
Remove from heat and mix in fresh parsley.
Set aside.
2. Make the Hot Honey Feta Cream
In a blender or bowl combine:
Feta cheese
Greek yogurt
Olive oil
Honey
Chili flakes
Lemon juice
Garlic
Blend or whisk until smooth and creamy.
Taste and adjust:
More honey for sweetness
More chili flakes for heat
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
3. Warm the Flatbread
Brush flatbreads lightly with olive oil.
Heat them in a pan, oven, or air fryer for 2–3 minutes until warm and slightly crisp.
4. Assemble the Flatbread
Place the warm flatbread on a plate.
Spread a thin layer of hot honey feta cream.
Add a generous layer of spiced ground beef.
Top with:
Cherry tomatoes
Cucumbers
Red onion
Fresh herbs
Drizzle extra hot honey feta cream over the top.
5. Serve
Slice the flatbread into pieces and serve warm.
