Apple Yogurt Cake
A soft, creamy apple cake with a custard-like center and lightly crisp golden top.
Ingredients
For the apples
- 3 medium apples (peeled and sliced)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
For the batter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (250 g) plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
For topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare the apples
- Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Add sliced apples and sugar.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly soft and lightly caramelized.
- Sprinkle cinnamon if using.
2. Make the batter
- In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until light.
- Add vanilla, yogurt, milk, and oil. Mix well.
- Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir until smooth.
3. Assemble
- Grease an 8-inch (20 cm) cake pan.
- Arrange the cooked apples evenly in the pan.
- Pour the batter over the apples.
4. Bake
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35–45 minutes
- The top should turn golden and the center set.
5. Finish
- Let the cake cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
