Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

This chocolate buttercream frosting is smooth, creamy, and full of rich chocolate flavor. It’s perfect for cakes, cupcakes, or any dessert that needs a sweet, chocolatey touch. Easy to make and with a wonderful texture, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

2-3 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)

4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (melted, optional for extra richness)

Instructions:

Prepare the butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth (about 2-3 minutes).

Add powdered sugar and cocoa powder: Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar and cocoa powder, one cup at a time, beating on low speed to prevent a mess. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat until smooth.

Add vanilla, salt, and cream: Add the vanilla extract, salt, and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Beat for another 2-3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add more cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.

Optional extra chocolate: If you want an even richer chocolate flavor, fold in the melted semi-sweet chocolate at this point, and continue to beat until fully combined.

Frost your dessert: Use the frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. If you’re storing it for later use, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until needed. Allow it to come to room temperature before using.

This chocolate buttercream frosting will give your baked goods a smooth, velvety finish with the perfect balance of sweetness and cocoa flavor.
