Crispy Pork Belly Bites
🕒 Time:
1 hour (plus optional marinating)
🍽️ Servings:
3–4
🛒 Ingredients:
- 700g–1kg pork belly (skin on, cut into bite-size cubes)
- 1 tbsp oil
Seasoning:
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic)
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
Sauce/Glaze (optional but recommended):
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vinegar (or lemon juice)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ tsp chili sauce (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Prep the pork
- Pat pork belly dry with paper towels (very important for crispiness).
- Cut into even cubes.
- Rub with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and chili flakes.
2. Cook (two methods)
Oven method (easier):
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Place pork pieces on a baking tray (preferably on a rack).
- Roast for 35–45 minutes, turning halfway, until crispy and golden.
Pan-fry method (extra crispy):
- Heat a pan on medium heat (no need much oil—pork releases fat).
- Add pork pieces in a single layer.
- Cook 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally until all sides are crispy.
3. Make the glaze (optional but 🔥)
- In a pan, mix soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, and chili sauce.
- Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thick.
4. Toss & finish
- Add crispy pork into the sauce.
- Toss until coated and caramelized.
🌟 Tips for BEST results:
- Dry the pork well → this gives that bubbly crispy skin
- Don’t overcrowd the pan/tray
- Let it rest a few minutes before serving
- For extra crunch: broil (high heat) for last 5 minutes
🍽️ Serve with:
- Rice or noodles
- Fresh salad or cucumber slices
- Flatbread or wraps
🔥 Flavor variations:
- Asian style: add sesame oil + ginger
- Spicy: add more chili sauce or hot sauce
- Garlic butter: toss in melted butter + garlic at the end.
