Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 500 g boneless chicken breast or thighs (cut into strips)

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 tbsp plain yogurt

  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ¾ tsp salt

For the Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • 2 garlic cloves (finely minced or grated)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp dried dill or oregano

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For the Wraps

  • 4 pita breads

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

  • 1 medium tomato (diced)

  • ½ cucumber (sliced or diced)

  • ¼ red onion (thinly sliced)

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken

  1. In a bowl combine olive oil, yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper.

  2. Add the chicken strips and coat well.

  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours for better flavor).

2. Prepare the Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  1. In a small bowl mix Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and herbs.

  2. Stir until smooth and creamy.

  3. Refrigerate until ready to use.

3. Cook the Chicken

  1. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  2. Add the marinated chicken.

  3. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly golden.

4. Warm the Pita

Warm pita bread in:

  • a skillet for 30–40 seconds each side, or

  • an oven at 180°C (350°F) for 3 minutes.

This makes the pita softer and easier to wrap.

5. Assemble the Wraps

  1. Place warm pita on a plate.

  2. Add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion.

  3. Top with cooked chicken.

  4. Drizzle generously with garlic yogurt sauce.

  5. Sprinkle feta cheese if using.

6. Wrap and Serve

Fold the bottom slightly, roll the pita around the filling, and serve immediately.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Olives

  • Roasted potatoes or fries inside the wrap

  • Pickled cucumbers

  • Chili flakes for heat

Quick Tips

  • Chicken thighs give juicier wraps than breast meat.

  • If you want authentic flavor, add ½ tsp smoked paprika.

  • The garlic yogurt sauce tastes even better after 30 minutes in the fridge.
