Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers
These juicy, cheesy Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a delicious low-carb alternative to traditional burgers. Thick roasted cabbage slices replace the bun, creating a hearty, flavorful meal that’s perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 medium green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick rounds
- 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the cabbage slices on the baking sheet. Brush both sides with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Roast the cabbage for 10 minutes until it begins to soften.
- While the cabbage roasts, combine the ground beef, garlic, green onions, parsley, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Mix gently and form into 4–6 burger patties.
- Remove the cabbage from the oven. Spread about 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce over each cabbage slice.
- Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on each slice, then place a beef patty on top.
- Add the remaining cheese over each patty.
- Return to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- For extra browning, broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
