Quick Bok Choy with Ginger Chili Sauce..

Chinese Pepper Steak

🛒 Ingredients

🥩 For the Beef:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

🌶 For the Stir Fry:

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or canola)

🍶 For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for slight sweetness)

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • ½ cup beef broth (or water)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (to thicken)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, mix:

  • Sliced beef

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • Sesame oil

Let sit for 15–20 minutes while you prep vegetables.


2️⃣ Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together:

  • Soy sauce

  • Oyster sauce

  • Hoisin

  • Sugar

  • Beef broth

  • Cornstarch

Set aside.


3️⃣ Cook the Beef

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Add beef in a single layer.
Sear 1–2 minutes per side until browned.
Remove and set aside (don’t overcook).


4️⃣ Stir-Fry Vegetables

Add remaining oil to the pan.

Cook:

  • Garlic & ginger (30 seconds)

  • Onion and bell peppers (2–3 minutes)

Vegetables should stay slightly crisp.


5️⃣ Combine & Finish

Return beef to the pan.
Pour in sauce and stir well.

Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats everything nicely.


🍽 Serve With:

  • Steamed white rice

  • Fried rice

  • Noodles


💡 Beginner Tips

  • Slice beef very thin for tenderness

  • Cut against the grain

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan

  • For extra heat: add crushed red pepper or sliced chili
