Quick Greek Chicken Gyros

🧾 Overview

Tender marinated chicken cooked quickly in a pan or air fryer, served in warm Pita bread with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki-style sauce.


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

🍗 Chicken

  • 2 chicken breasts or thighs (sliced thin)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Juice of ½ lemon

🫓 Wrap Base

  • 3–4 Pita bread (warmed)

🥗 Fresh Fillings

  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • ½ cucumber (sliced)
  • ¼ red onion (thinly sliced)

🥣 Quick Tzatziki Sauce

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 small cucumber (grated & squeezed dry)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: dill or mint

👩‍🍳 Instructions


1. Marinate Chicken

  1. Mix chicken with olive oil, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and lemon juice
  2. Let sit for 10–15 minutes (or longer if you have time)

2. Cook Chicken (Quick Method)

Pan:

  • Heat pan on medium-high
  • Cook chicken 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through

Air fryer:

  • 190°C (375°F) for 10–12 minutes

3. Make Tzatziki

  1. Mix yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil
  2. Season with salt and pepper
  3. Chill if possible for better flavor

4. Warm Pita

  • Heat Pita bread in a pan or oven for 1–2 minutes

5. Assemble Gyros

  1. Spread tzatziki on pita
  2. Add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion
  3. Add sliced chicken
  4. Drizzle extra sauce on top
  5. Fold and serve
