Spicy Crispy Hot Honey Lemon Feta Chicken with Herb Crust

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme

  • Oil for frying or baking spray


For the Hot Honey Lemon Sauce

  • ⅓ cup honey

  • 1–2 tsp chili flakes (or hot sauce)

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (fresh)

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 small garlic clove (minced)


For the Whipped Lemon Feta

  • 150 g feta cheese

  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 1–2 tbsp water (for smooth texture)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Herb Crust

  1. In one bowl place flour.

  2. In another bowl whisk eggs.

  3. In a third bowl mix:

    • panko breadcrumbs

    • parmesan cheese

    • paprika

    • garlic powder

    • onion powder

    • cayenne

    • parsley

    • thyme

    • salt and pepper.


2. Coat the Chicken

  1. Pat chicken dry.

  2. Dredge in flour.

  3. Dip in egg mixture.

  4. Coat well in the herb breadcrumb mixture.

  5. Press crumbs firmly so they stick.


3. Cook the Chicken

Pan Fry Method

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.

Oven Method (Healthier)

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F.

  2. Place chicken on a lined baking tray.

  3. Spray lightly with oil.

  4. Bake 18–22 minutes until crispy.


4. Make the Hot Honey Lemon Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan melt butter over medium heat.

  2. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  3. Stir in:

    • honey

    • chili flakes

    • lemon juice

    • lemon zest

  4. Simmer 1–2 minutes until slightly thick.


5. Make the Whipped Lemon Feta

  1. Add to a blender or food processor:

    • feta

    • Greek yogurt

    • olive oil

    • lemon juice

    • lemon zest

  2. Blend until creamy.

  3. Add a little water if needed for a smooth texture.


6. Assemble the Dish

  1. Place crispy chicken on plates.

  2. Drizzle generously with hot honey lemon sauce.

  3. Add spoonfuls of whipped lemon feta.

  4. Garnish with:

    • chopped herbs

    • extra chili flakes

    • lemon slices.

  • Warm flatbread
