🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

  • 1 cup fresh spinach (or ½ cup frozen, thawed & squeezed dry)

  • ½ cup cream cheese (softened)

  • ¼ cup grated mozzarella or parmesan cheese

  • 1 clove garlic (minced) or ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional, but great with spinach)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Wooden skewers or thick toothpicks


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the spinach filling

  • Finely chop the spinach.

  • In a bowl, mix spinach, cream cheese, grated cheese, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.

2. Prepare the puff pastry

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface.

3. Assemble the trees

  • Spread the spinach mixture evenly over the puff pastry.

  • Cut the pastry into long triangles (tree shape), about 1–1½ inches wide at the base.

  • Carefully insert a skewer through the center of each triangle to act as the “tree trunk.”

  • Gently twist the pastry from bottom to top to create a tree-like shape.

4. Egg wash

  • Beat the egg and lightly brush over each tree for a golden finish.

5. Bake

  • Place on the baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.


🌟 Optional Decorations

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds before baking

  • Add a tiny star-shaped cheese piece on top after baking

  • Sprinkle grated parmesan while still warm

  • Add red pepper flakes for a festive touch
