Ingredients

  • 2 slices thick-cut bread (Texas toast, brioche, or sourdough)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (or a blend)
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  • Lightly spread butter on each slice of bread if desired.
  • Use the back of a spoon or your fingers to gently press the center of each slice, creating a shallow well for the egg.

2. Add the Cheese

  • Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese around the edges and slightly into the center of each bread slice. The cheese helps create a barrier so the egg stays in place.

3. Add the Eggs

  • Crack each egg into a small bowl first, then carefully pour one egg into the center of each slice.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Sprinkle more cheese around the egg, leaving the yolk exposed if desired.

4. Air Fry

  • Carefully place the toast into the air fryer basket.
  • Cook at 350°F (175°C) for:
    • 6–7 minutes for a runny yolk
    • 8–9 minutes for a jammy yolk
    • 10–11 minutes for a fully cooked yolk

5. Garnish & Serve

  • Sprinkle with dried parsley or Italian seasoning.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a little heat if desired.
  • Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and melty.

Tips for Perfect Cheesy Egg Toast

  • Use thick slices of bread to keep the egg from overflowing.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Crack the eggs into a bowl first to make them easier to transfer.
  • Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model.

  • Crispy bacon bits
  • Diced ham
  • Cooked breakfast sausage
  • Sautéed spinach
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Cherry tomatoes
