🛒 Ingredients
For the Chicken:
12–14 chicken drumsticks (about 1.5 kg / 3 lbs)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional for heat)
1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Chicken
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Pat drumsticks dry with paper towels (this helps them crisp).
Place them in a large bowl.
Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and thyme until evenly coated.
Step 2: Arrange for Baking
Line a baking dish or tray with foil or parchment paper.
Arrange drumsticks in a single layer.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Step 3: Make the Honey Garlic Glaze
While chicken is baking:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine:
Honey
Soy sauce
Garlic
Ketchup
Brown sugar
Vinegar
Chili flakes
Bring to a gentle simmer.
Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce.
Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thick and glossy.
Remove from heat.
Step 4: Glaze & Finish
After 35–40 minutes, remove chicken from oven.
Brush generously with honey garlic glaze.
Return to oven for another 10–15 minutes until sticky and caramelized.
Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes for extra char (watch carefully).
Step 5: Rest & Garnish
Let rest for 5 minutes.
Spoon extra sauce from the pan over the top.
Garnish with chopped parsley or sesame seeds.
