Ingredients:
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 cup bread crumbs
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1/2 cup diced onion
• 1/2 cup diced green pepper
• 1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
• 1/2 cup beef broth
• 1/4 cup ketchup
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon mustard
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, diced onion, diced green pepper, sliced mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan to form a flat layer.
4. Lay the provolone cheese slices evenly over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges.
5. Cover the cheese with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal and encase the cheese.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to prepare the sauce.
7. Pour the sauce evenly over the meatloaf, making sure it covers the entire surface.
8. Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
9. Once done, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
10. Slice into thick portions and serve warm. Enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf!
