Soft Layered Skillet Flatbread
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
- ¼ cup (60 ml) warm water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For Layering
- 3 tbsp softened butter
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add warm milk, warm water, and oil.
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Shape and Layer
- Divide dough into 6 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a thin circle (about 8 inches / 20 cm).
- Brush with a mixture of softened butter and oil.
- Fold the dough into a loose envelope or roll it into a spiral.
- Let rest for 15 minutes.
3. Roll Again
- Gently flatten each folded piece.
- Roll into circles about ¼ inch (6 mm) thick.
4. Cook
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Place one flatbread in the dry skillet.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until bubbles form.
- Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until golden brown spots appear.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
5. Serve
- Brush with melted butter while warm.
- Stack under a clean towel to keep soft.
