State Fair-Style Fresh Lemonade
A refreshingly sweet and tangy lemonade made with real lemons, perfect for summer days, picnics, or backyard gatherings!
📝 Ingredients:
2 large lemons, thoroughly washed
3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
¼ cup hot water (from the tap is fine – helps dissolve sugar)
1 cup cold water
Lots of ice (crushed or cubed)
🔪 Instructions:
STEP 1: Prep the Lemons
Wash your lemons thoroughly.
Cut each lemon in half, then cut each half into 4 wedges, making 8 lemon pieces in total.
STEP 2: Muddle the Lemons with Sugar
Place the lemon pieces into a large cup, mason jar, or plastic container.
Add 3 tablespoons of sugar.
Use a muddler, metal measuring cup, or the back of a spoon to mash the lemon wedges. This releases the juice and oils from the rind, mixing them with the sugar.
STEP 3: Dissolve the Sugar
Pour in ¼ cup of hot water.
Stir or shake well until the sugar has fully dissolved into the lemon juice mixture.
STEP 4: Add Water & Ice
Add 1 cup of cold water.
Fill the cup with lots of ice.
Shake or stir until well combined and chilled.
✅ Optional Adjustments:
Sweeter: Add up to 1 more tablespoon of sugar.
More tart: Use an extra lemon wedge or two.
Make it fizzy: Substitute cold water with sparkling water for a refreshing twist.
🍹 Serving Suggestion:
Serve immediately with a straw or pour through a strainer into a fresh glass if you prefer a pulp-free version. Garnish with a lemon wheel or mint sprig for extra flair!
