Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers

These juicy, cheesy Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a delicious low-carb alternative to traditional burgers. Thick roasted cabbage slices replace the bun, creating a hearty, flavorful meal that’s perfect for lunch or dinner.

 Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick rounds
  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

 Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the cabbage slices on the baking sheet. Brush both sides with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Roast the cabbage for 10 minutes until it begins to soften.
  4. While the cabbage roasts, combine the ground beef, garlic, green onions, parsley, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Mix gently and form into 4–6 burger patties.
  5. Remove the cabbage from the oven. Spread about 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce over each cabbage slice.
  6. Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on each slice, then place a beef patty on top.
  7. Add the remaining cheese over each patty.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  9. For extra browning, broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
